I am about to simulate the "hidrostatic head" of a simple column (cylinder full of water).
the remaining equation to solve is actually dp/dz=rho*g (1)
So, I added the gravity to the momentum equation and set u-vectors equal to zero. No inlet to the cylinder and no outlet. Just water. And I want to calculate the pressure difference between the top and the bottom of the cylinder.

however the result is not matching the equation
p(top)-p(bottom)=rho*g*h (2)
and I dont have an explanation for that.

Henry netioned in the board that the pressure p in simpleFoam is rho/p. If I take the equation into account, the calculated result is not matching eq.(2) anyway.
Unfortunately, I dont know how to handle that situation in OpenFoam. What BC do I need for this job?
Any help you can give would be very much appreciated.

Regards,
Holger

Hello Holger,

I am also having problems with hydrostatic equilibrium. I would also like to know if someone has a solution for this problem.
