Dear All,

I am running a LES of an oscillating pipe flow.
The pipe wall temperature is fixed: Thot.
The flow enters the pipe at a colder temperature (Tcold).

I would like to use cyclic boundary condition for the velocity and inletOutlet boundary condition for the Temperature. (The flow is reversing and I want that enters the pipe from the inlet or outlet with the same cold temperature Tcold)

Since this is not possible, I am wondering if it is possible to access the temperature values of a cyclic patch field and change them to a desired value.

In this way I can fix the temperature at the inlet and outlet to Tcold obtaining what I want..

Looking forward to get suggestions,
regards,

Daniele

hi friend could you use different boundary conditions in cyclic patch?
i encounter the same problem i need cyclic for U and inletOutlet for T

hi nimasam,

you can set

inOut
{
type inletOutlet;
patchType cyclic;
inletValue uniform "value";
value uniform "value";
}

but you have to change the boundary condition back to cyclic after simulation, because paraview complains that there is an inconsistent patch and patchField type ...
this error appears even if you try to convert to VTK with foamToVTK.
BjoernFoam likes this.
