i wish to calculate the mean flow (and many other calculations) from time say 0.1s to 10.0s and write the final output in folder say Avg (at the same level as 0.1,0.2,0.3, ... 10.0) so for the corresponding volScalarField if i write the IOobject in its constructor as

U_bar(IOobject("U_bar","Avg",mesh .... )...)

it doesn't work. I guessed that the second arg indicated the folder which is generally runtime.TimeName(), and replaced it with "Avg"

can you please help?

thanks a lot

is this thing possible? and how can i make OpenFOAM read a particular file from a particular directory? i would want OpenFOAM to read the files from the Avg Directory, if i can get it written.

regIOobjects can only be read

regIOobjects can only be read or written from time directories, system or constant. If you really insist on having them elsewhere, open your own OFstream and put the file wherever you like.
