i'm trying to simulate a heat treatment furnace.
¿which solver is more suitable for that kind of applications?

Convection an radiation. i know that there isn't a solver to compute radiation, but it´s obvious that will be desirable...
maybe could include conduction in the load and the walls, but for starting i thaught to give fixed heat flux for these. (if my english isn't so good, please sorry )

If you want to include combustion then XiFoam or dieselFoam might be good starting points. If not then rhoTurbFoam for transient or rhoSimpleFoam for steady-state. Or if you want to include buoyancy then buoyantFoam or buoyantSimpleFoam.

All these applications are related and you could start from any of them but it would prabably be best to choose at the outset if you want to run transient or stready-state.

Hello

Im working on my diploma work and need a solver that can handle the following:

-high turbulance
-incompressible flow
-heat flux from a boudarywall
-steady state

Maybe the rhoSimpleFoam satisfies the conditions but I cant find it among the tutorial cases.

Could anybody help me find a appropiate solver or tell me how to find rhoSimpleFoam if it is the correct solver.

Thanks
Erik

rhoSimpleFoam is a compressible solver.

There is no ready made solver in the current distribution that will do what you want. If you want an incompressible solver with heat transfer, you will have to add a scalar transport equation for temperature to simpleFoam or fix the density in rhoSimpleFoam.

Heat flux boundaries are available for any solver that does thermodynamics.

ok thanks,

I shall try to modify the rhoSimpleFoam solver than but it doesnt pop upp amoung the other solvers while starting FoamX.

Do you ore someone else know how to get this solver and add it to the list of solvers?

regards
Erik

If you are going to modify a code, you might as well learn how to work without the GUI. The stuff you learn will also help you modify FoamX to include new solvers.

ok, I will do that.

I still cant find my rhoSimpleFoam solver which is said to be included in OpenFOAM version 1.2.

Do you or anyone else know where to find it or where to download it from?
