Hi everybody. I'm new to openFoam and Would like to solve a steady state turbulent flow for Newtonian fluid (water). Can someone tell me which solver I have to use. I read that simpleFoam is used for transient flows and simpleFoam is used for non-Newtonian fluids. Could I use simplefoam for Newtonian fluid or turbfoam for steady state simulation? Thanks in advance.

You can use either solver.

You can use either solver.

You might want to run simpleFoam first (is fast to reach some kind of steady-state flow) and then restart using turbFoam to make sure your flow is actually steady.

You might find it useful to go

You might find it useful to go through the tutorials which will make it clear which solver is appropriate as well as helping you understand how to run OpenFOAM.
