Hello everyone,

I have got a question related to the calculation of the dynamic contact angle in the interFOAM solver.

InterFOAM calculates the dynamic contact angle (theta) via the following formula:

theta = theta0 + (thetaA - thetaR) * tanh(uwall/uTheta)

theta0 = static contact angle
thetaA = Limiting advancing contact angle
thetaR = Limiting receeding contact angle
uTheta = dynamic contact angle velocity scale

Could you please tell me where this formula comes from?
Is there any book/paper in which this formula was derived?
How is uTheta determined?

Actually they are three questions and not only one.
I would be very grateful, if you could help me on my problem.

Thank you very much in advance for your time and help!

Sincerely,
Sebastian Vogl

Hi, maybe you can find it in OnnoUbbink 's PhD thesis from the website: http://powerlab.fsb.hr/ped/kturbo/OpenFOAM/docs/

Hello Sandy,
Thank you very much for your help. I will have a close look at this thesis.

Best regards,

I have not found any hints. In the PhD.

My problem is: What is Uwall?

In my cases the wall velocity is always 0. Therefore the dynamic contact angle is always the static one.
