Vertex Based Motion

Hi, I'm trying to simulate a moving rigid "tail" behind a block, and while searching in the forum came across the term "vertex based motion", but could not find anything else. My question is that if it is the correct direction to look into, and if so, if it is implemented in OF-1.5 and if there is any documentation and/or tutorials for such setup? Thanks for the help.

Hello,

i've not found examples or doc about vertex based motion solvers. Try to search 'pointDisplacement', 'displacementLaplacian', 'displacementSBRStress' and you will find a few tips on how to use those motion solvers.

Be careful that the displacement is relative to the original mesh and not the previous time step.

Sincerely, Etienne.

Hi Etienne,

Thanks for the reply. I tried searching for the terms you mentioned, but the forum returned nothing when searching for the last two. For the pointDisplacement, is it sufficient to simply modify the dynMeshDict and pointMotionU, or do I have to modify the solver? Thanks.
