oscillating pressure residuals buoyant plume

3 Attachment(s)
Dear all!

I m simulating an isolated buoyant plume with chtMultiRegionFoam (for some preliminary studies of the solver). There, hot air (473 K) is entering a cooler environment (293 K) through the floor with an initial velocity of 0.8 m/s. Top and side boundaries are open (see attachment). I simulate one half of the set-up (due to symmetry) in 2D with a total simulation time of 600s. The standard k-eps turbulence model is used and settings for fvSchemes and fvSolution are taken from default.

When plotting residuals I cannot see pressure p converging, whereas those for h, k and eps do (see attachments). I ve already tried different combinations of BCs, always same behavior. Temporal evolutions of p, T and Uy at differnt locations are constant after at least 100s.

Can this simulation be considered as converged (I plan to use the results as initial field for further simulations) ???

I greatly appreciate your comments!!

Thanks in advance,
Aram
