Useless patch

Hello!

I have a mesh, generated with salome and saved in unv format (that I regulary use). For meshing reason I putted a plane inside, this plane has been recognized by openfoam mesh importer and putted in defalutFaces.
My problem is how to set openfoam to behave like this plane does not exist.

Sorry if this problem is evident or already discussed, but I did not found any solution!

Hello,
check your Object Browser in Salome, under the Mesh Object. Do you have that plane included on a Group of Face? If so, you should remove it. After you export the .unv mesh, the extra defaultFace should be disappeared. Hope that this is the answer to your question.

Thanks for you answer!

The plane is not included in any group, I checked well. It's an internal plane of a compound, ideasunvtofoam recognized it as faces not assigned to any patch and created automaticaly defaultfaces.

My goal is to have a flat triangle mesh plane into a 3D tet mesh. Maybe is there other solution but a compound? Or any method to tell openfoam to ignore that faces?

Well, I started to use Salome only a couple of weeks ago, thus I am not an expert on the subject...
What I can suggest is to modify your geometry in Salome. Split your original solid using Partition and the plane as cutting tool. A new face is created at the intersection of the two parts, that you can isolate defining a group. Finally, use the submesh feature in the mesh module and create the mesh you like for that face.
However I am not sure it will work, but it is worth to try!
