i have a question, how can a run be stopped and resumed later?

using

startFrom latestTime;

in system/controlDict let the run start from the last saved time step ...

Consider also using "stopAt writeNow" (see http://www.opencfd.co.uk/openfoam/doc/controlDict.html)
