Hi everybody,
I had a look at all the possibilities offered by OpenFoam and FireFoam, It seems very open and interresting. But I have never runned OpenFoam. I would like to know if you think that it is possible to :

-modify FireFoam to do DNS of laminar flames ( I am quite sure that this is possible removing turbulence-liked source terms and the turbulence model)

-Use the adaptive mesh modules to track the flame front of a growing laminar fire. I would like to implement a sensor of the flame front and refine the cells around it, and derefine the previously refined cells which are not concerned by the flame front any more.

Thank you very much.

Francois.

Hi François,

I have a similar need regarding refining and coarsening meshes close to the fire front. So far I don't have an answer for you, but I'll keep you posted if I find out a way to do it. I would appreciate if you can do the same. Right now I'm working in joining fireFoam to chtMultiRegion, but I will move on shortly.

Regards,

Paulo

Hello Paul,

In the end, we didn't choose that option and we are using the original fireFoam. But I am interested in knowing what you did with that anyway.

Thanks for your post

François.

Hello François.

As is, fireFoam doesn't fit my needs, as the solid is represented as a BC. So I'm using chtMultiRegion to represent the solid as a region and fireFoam as the fluid region. My goal is to represent a surface wildland fire.

Regards,

Paulo
