best practice: how to manage multiple runs?

Hi,

I am looking for suggestions for managing multiple OF runs.

Typically each run is in its own directory, with its own input and output files.

But how to highlight differences and commonalities between runs, and how to do comparative analysis and plots? How to archive the runs? How to keep a log of each run and the results?

Are there software packages, or Emacs packages, or ..., that automate these kinds of tasks?

Thanks,

Mirko
