div(U)=0

Hello everyone,

Regarding icoFoam or some similar incompressible flow solver.

Can anyone please explain, whats the numerical reason why div(U) is not zero (because div(phi) in incompressible solvers like icoFoam is zero)?

I know that the continuity equation is built with the flux, and having a div(phi)=0 is more important that having a div(U)=0.

But why is not possible to obtain div(U)=0?

Cheers,

Carlos
