erncyc is an unknown quantity at this point
Hello OpenFOAMERS, I am a beginner with regards to OpenFOAM. Currently I am stuck on the Dam break problem in OpenFOAM. My case is different because the obstacle is a cylinder which has a virtual boundary (through an immersed boundary method -IB). The immersed boundary method uses a simple non-conforming Cartesian grid. Consequently, the boundary of the cylinder is not explicitly defined, but it is implied through a virtual force. Because of this virtual boundary, I am having difficulties resolving the interface around the cylinder. In order to force the liquid phase to stay outside the cylinder, I have (and I am not sure if I am right here) modified alpha1 (in alphaEqn.H) to alpha1 = alpha1(1 - A123), where A123 = 1 within the cylinder and zero outside the cylinder. My main problem is that when I explicitly solve for alpha (in the alphaEqn.H), the value of alpha is not conserved and becomes unbounded to values much higher than one. Please, I request your help in trying to resolve this problem.
