External Aero Yaw Case: How Are you Yawing?

Hey Everyone,

I would like to run an external aero case (automotive based) at some degree of yaw. My questions are:

How do you yaw the model? In OpenFOAM or in your CAD system? If you yaw the model in CAD how do you yaw the refinements regions?

Thoughts, comments, suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

why do not you change the wind direction instead of changing the orientation of your car?

Hey Ivan,
Would changing the inlet velocity angle be considered "best practice" for simulation a ground vehicle at yaw? Would this require any updates the the "wall", "ceiling", "exit plane" "floor" boundary conditions?

Changing the wind direction is fully correct if you adapt the outer boundaries of your domain.

The air should flow through all your outer boundaries if you want to simulate yawed inflow. Consider using boundary conditions which are appropriate for that.
