Automatic wall functions for kEpsilon model

Hi,

I would like to be able to properly calculate the turbulent flows using the
standard kEpsilon model regardless of y+ value. In the OpenFOAM
implementations, I understand that I have to use the mesh such that
y+>30 when using the high Re turbulence model.

What approach should I take to my aim?
Is there anybody who has experienced the implementations of the automatic
wall function in OpenFOAM?
I would like to listen to voice of experience.

I would welcome any comments and suggestions.

Thanks in advance,
Fumiya

Hi Fumiya,

It is my understanding that using nutUSpaldingWallFunction (for nut) will give you such a wall function. For k and epsilon you should keep the usual wall functions (i.e. kqRWallFunction and epsilonWallFunction, respectively).

regards,
Sylvester

Thank you very much for your reply, sylvester. I'll have a try.

By the way, I found the article related to this thread:
http://www.opensourcecfd.com/confere...9_Kurenkov.pdf

Is there anyone who has used or implemented the wall functions described in it?
Are they more robust than the wall functions implemented in OpenFOAM?

Best regards,
Fumiya
