Dear Foamers,

I need your help to guide me how to implement the attached case by OpenFOAM.

Can you give me such cases in OpenFOAM-1.6-ext which are similar to this to make changes?

Or are there any one try to do such this case? If any, please help me.

The explaination of the case is clear in the attached file. If not, I'll explain more if needed.

My regards
Maimouna

you could check the following link which talks about something similar to your problem. The second pdf is answer you are looking for I suppose.

good luck.

Dear Tangam,
many thanks for your reply.

One more question, do you have 0, constant, and system folders for that case mentioned in the second pdf paper?

If yes, could you send me please?
If it is already in the FOAM_TUTORIALS in which solver I can find it? I'm working in OpenFOAM-1.6-ext.

Warm regards

Dear all OpenFOAM users,

nowadays, I'm studying Turek and Hron case (attached below). My purpose is to understand that case very well before starting to implement my case.

I tried to see the video- simulation and then plotting over lines using ParaView-3.14.0.
I copied TurekHron case to icoFsiFoam solver in OpenFOAM-1.6-ext. Every thing was going smoothly. The problem is I can't see the video-simulation of that case. Any way, I attached the ParaView screen.

Any help? Please let me know if any idea.
Also, if you have any helpful tutorial about Turek and Hron using OpenFOAM, let me know please.

Best regards
Maimouna

Are your timesteps being written out? From your original post I'm not sure if you can't see the timesteps in ParaFoam or if you are expecting a video file of the simulation.

Dear Marco,
timesteps is not being wtitten out. I thought thats why I couldn't expect the video of the simulation.

Alright, when you say that everything goes smoothly, do you mean the solver runs and exits without any errors/warnings? What is the simulation time and what are your settings for timestep and output?

Yes, I meant by going smoothly that solver runs without errors or warning except these two
ln: failed to create symbolic link 'solid/constant': File exists and
ln: failed to create symbolic link 'solid/0': File exists.
These aren't problem. It just means that it is not able to create the link, because the link already exists from the first time the Allrun script was executed.

I'm still trying to set the timestep to get the simulation. Any idea?

This is basically a modified Turek-Hron benchmark, right?

Edit:

Hmmm, how did I miss that?

Greetings to all!

@Maimouna: In the following thread, a similar discussion was made: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...benchmark.html - I don't know if cutty4sark managed to solve the problem.

Either way, regarding the case you shared, namely the package "TurekHron2.tar.gz": I need to know what where the steps you have taken to prepare this case and I need to know how to run the case.

Because if you are trying to animate this case in ParaView without first running the solver, it's only natural that there is no animation

Best regards,
Bruno

Dear Bruno,

I copied the folder of TurekHron to my icoFsiFoam solver in OF-1.6-ext and I studied this case to understand it. To run this case I applied two ways
First one:
./Allclean
./Allrun
Second one:
blockMesh
icoFsiFoam
But, both were not working.

Sorry for that such dummy questions always.

Hi Maimouna,

Knowing what you are looking for is 50% of the solution. Asking the right questions is 25% of the solution. And the rest... are the answers
Therefore, no matter what, one must even learn all stages of solving a problem, including how to ask the questions and which ones matter asking, to get to the solution (convergence not included ). And most of all, to know what you are looking for .

OK, philosophy aside, back to the problem. Attached is a properly prepared case, based on the "flappingConsoleSmall" and based on your latest "TurekHron2".

Problem is that this is still not a working case. But it's a good working basis. What you were missing for creating the attached case was:
  1. To study how the "All*" scripts work. You can find some information on this topic here: http://linuxcommand.org/learning_the_shell.php
  2. The definitions made in the "system/fvSolution" and "system/tetFemSolution" files were incorrectly made, since the ones you had were still using a very old definition of solution settings.

The reason why it's not working is still not clear. But inside the log file "fluid/log.icoFsiFoam" is indicated the reason why things did not work as intended. Essentially, it's because the Courant Number was too high and lead to a diverging simulation and crashed.

I suggest that you carefully look at each file and compare with the old "flappingConsoleSmall" case. Keep in mind that every single detail is important to OpenFOAM!
So keep your eyes wide open and be sure to notice every single detail!

If you still have a hard time understanding why things aren't working, let us know what you have already tried and what you have learned so far.

Best regards,
Bruno
