Hi, I wondered if someone could describe to me how probes for velocity measurements in OpenFOAM v1.7 work. Do they use linear interpolation with respect to the neighbouring cells or do they crudely use the values from the nearest neighbour?

Thanks.

Hi,

I believe probes extract, say, the velocity from the nearest cell centre. Therefore, probes do not provide a field variable's magnitude for an arbitrary location in the domain by interpolating the neighbouring cell centre's.
