icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam + particle heating?

1 Attachment(s)
Dear foamers,

Newbie to openfoam here. I'm trying to model the flow and heating of micrometer sized particles in the laser metal deposition process.

Basically the problem consists of the flow of gas inside and outside a nozzle. This gas carries along the discrete phase. For the moment I have managed to solve the flow using simpleFoam and inserted the particles with icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam (see attachement).

Next step would be to heat up the particles, due to the interaction with the laser during their time of flight. I would like to solve a heat equation for each individual particle. The heat source or intensity would be a function of space I=I(x,y,z), already known. I would like to know if it is posible to expand icoUncoupledKinematicParcelFoam in a simple way to do this or if it is necessary to switch to another solver.

Additionaly I would like to know if it is posible to do steady state particle tracking.

Thanks very much in advance,

Regards,

V. I. Chuikov
