I'm a new OpenFOAM user, with a small experience in the EasyFlow use in the 1990s. I'm trying to simulate NASA rotor 35 and stator 35 pair, with a slight modification: the shell is rotating and the rotor blades fixed in this rotating shell, and stator vanes fixed to a stationary axis. The idea is to evaluate a possible gain in stall margin with this change and the possibility of building smaller axial compressors. It seems by the Snappy mesh warning that OpenFOAM does not allows a rotating zone with a hole. So the entire zone inside the shell between two parallel planes orthogonal to the stationary axis. So I have to create a fixed wall inside the rotating zone. I have some doubts about how to do this. I normally use the Helyx-OS to create base files and edit the files when the Helyx does not have a menu to put a specific condition. Urel boundary condition shall be used? What is the right way to do this. I am not at home where I have my files, but a can put geometry files latter if necessary. The radial gap is about 0.3 mm and the axial gap between the rotor and stator is of 0.25 mm. I could already generate a mesh without unwanted bounding of geometry items, though it is very refined and I needed 2 days in a I5 with a solid state drive with a 450 Mbytes/s transfer rate to generate the mesh.
