Hello,
Has anyone heard of the COOLFluid Project? Seems to be a modular object oriented approach to physics problems (though... mainly CFD) which seems to take an approach similar to that of OpenFOAM.... Here is the website: http://coolfluidsrv.vki.ac.be/coolfluid/ There doesnt seem to be much information as such... and not sure if a version is available for download. Philippose |

Hello again,
As far as I can see, they have not yet decided on what license to release it under.... though there are some hints that it could be released under LGPL. Funnily... the last major update (of the website) seems to be over a year ago. I dont know whether the project is still actively maintained, or whether all the work happens at the SVN Repository level. Philippose |

It's so late but I just noticed COOLFluiD went opensource on GitHub under LGPL on August 2011 and the project is active. Does anyone have experience about the code?

Hello Takuya,
personally, I don't have experience with COOLFluiD, but my colleague at the university is one of the main developers of COOLFluiD 3. If you have a specific question, I can maybe give you his contact details e.g. email. As long its not related to OF, I think it shouldn't discussed in the OF forum. Just let me know. Best, Florian |

Hi Florian,
Thanks for the interesting info. So far I am interested in software engineering aspects (object oriented design) as compared to OpenFOAM just as Philippose had pointed out. For the moment I'd download and study the code and might get back to you if my questions get more specific. Takuya |
