I have been using OSCAR (Open Source Cluster Application Resources - http://oscar.openclustergroup.org/) this year as part of my final year project investigating the use of cluster computing in fluid mechanics. The OSCAR-users mailing list has recently had some requests and questions regarding OpenFOAM.

It is known on the OSCAR IRC channel that I deal with fluid mechanics applications and I have been in contact with the chair of the OSCAR project talking about the possibility of building OpenFOAM packages for OSCAR through the means provided by Google's Summer of Code (http://code.google.com/soc/).

My proposal to Google and OSCAR can be found here: http://www.union.ic.ac.uk/halls/garden/google/

I was wondering if anyone has any comments or advice on the matter.

Thanks in advance,

Stuart Archibald. (MEng Civil Engineering, Imperial College.)

Could you also try to look into getting FoamX to work with a free JDK (such as SableVM)?

OpenFOAM isn't totally open unless it is free from using the SUN JDK. Of course we can still edit all dictionaries by hand
