P.S. The new builds will bring a working live installer, so, additional good news. OpenFOAM is still at 1.5.x, but I'll work on an updated version soon.

These ISO are kept by SUSE Studio for a least 7 days, and then they might disappear again.

Hi,

I have managed to include all of my 4 PCs at home, but then the OF Summer School started so I had to stop. After that I've bought some components and I'm finishing a home beowulf now. So, no, I didn't go pass the procedure I've described for a few PC's. Still, I think there should be no problem to do so: just use slax and the existing network, it should all be in place: there is no difference except for a few more computers on the network.

I wish you good luck! The only problem I've foreseen is the configuration of the network for VMs running slax, to be precise: saving the info on every disk. But that's just because of my infantile networking knowledge probably: I'm sure it's explained in the VirtualBox or similar documentation.

Studio is a free service. At the moment it is in beta stage, and only invited people can use it. However if the OpenFOAM developers are interested, I have a few invitations to give around, and I can send them to you.

I am also looking for a place where to host the images for those who are interested. Currently I only built the 64 bit version, with OpenFOAM 1.5.x.
The required space for an image is of about 2GB in compressed form, which give origin to a fully working openSUSE 11.1 with GNOME, Firefox, OpenOffice, OpenFOAM, enGrid, NETGEN, BLAS, Lapack, GSL, VLC media player, and the standard tools in openSUSE installation which requires slightly more than 4GB on a USB stick. For the curious, yes, paraFoam and paraView work out of the box (see slides ;-))

Hi,

netgen and engrid are available on the openSUSE buildservice:

netgen (openSUSE 11.2): http://software.opensuse.org/search?...2&p=1&q=netgen

engrid (my package is in GreenGeeko home dir, openSUSE 11.2): http://software.opensuse.org/search?...2&p=1&q=engrid

OpenFOAM is not packaged at all, and it does not make much sense to package it, since updates are delivered using git. You can easily build your package following this or any other summary of the instructions you find around.

The slides are not a document for OpenFOAM, but a demonstration of how SUSE Studio can be easily used to integrate the resources provided by OpenSUSE and SUSE Linux Enterprise. I prepared those slides with that purpose, since there was interest in showing different applications.

The "OpenFOAM.tar.gz" you see uploaded in the slides is simply a build of OpenFOAM on openSUSE, using the whole third-party package, without the gcc compiler. As compiler I used gcc coming with OpenSUSE.

You can build OF locally on your openSUSE, create a tar of the installation and use that one.

I still have the old package I used in that experiment, but it is quite outdated. Let me know if you want it.

I tried to get "OpenFOAM.tar.gz" using your slides.
But your link is not working so I couldn't get file.

Could you tell me another correct link or how to get "OpenFOAM.tar.gz"?
Acctually I would like to make OpenFOAM live with usb like as you did.

should I have to make it on linux or not?

summary my questions,

1. I wanna get "OpenFOAM.tar.gz". I want it.

My link is broken on purpose, so who reads the slides don't abuse of my dropbox :-) Send me an email, I'll send you the link to the package. Just keep in mind it's very outdated compared to what is in the git repository, and it requires openSUSE 11.2 - 64 bit, with its compiler.

Never mind! I found out that the answer is in the OpenFOAM README.

I successfully built the image. I downloaded the build, in *.tar.gz format. I just have to figure out how to put it in an USB stick and make it bootable. Or how to use this new OpenFOAMLive.tar.gz?
