turbulentHeatFluxTemperature patch in 1.6
Hi,
there seems to be a very interesting new patch derived patch in OpenFoam 1.6 the “turbulentHeatFluxTemperature” patch. It seems to adapt the temperature to establish a prescribed heat flux. Does anybody know how to use it for the incompressible and compressible (rho*) solvers? Does there already exist some experience with this patch? Thanks in advance! Ulrich |
Hi,
I would be thankful too for information to this bc... Marco |
Hi all,
here is the link. You have to modify it for the 1.6-version of OF. http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Contrib_wallHeatFlux If you use buoyantBoussinesqSimpleFOAM solver you have to change the kappa- to alpha-field. Regards Thomas |
Hi Thomas,
thanks for the link, but the BC is already present in of-1.6. Why should I implement the other one? Any information, about what the bc: turbulentHeatFluxTemperature exactly does, appreciated! Thanks Marco |
Hi Marcio,
I didn't know about that fact of the heatfluxbc in OF-1.6. But I don't have a computer with OF at the moment, so I can't check if the bc's do the same... But here is a link to a forum discussion about this theme, too. http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...oussinesq.html Regards Thomas |
Hi again,
thanks for the link, lets see if I get it right: 1. the solver calculates a (local?) alphaEff based on flow characteristics and turbulence model. 2. based on the defined heat flux value of the BC the temperature gradient is evaluated. -> The heat flux is constrained and the temperature differs locally depending on flow characteristics?! Hello Thomas, hello Marco,
maybe this modification also helps: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...eld-1-6-x.html I also noticed that there seem to be some changes in the keywords in one of the last git-update (1.6.x) for this patch. Best regards Ulrich |
