HI all,

thx for the answer!

I want to mesh outside and inside (it is supposed to be a circle inlet at the bottom of a box).

In the last try I ended up having Nx =Ny, otherwise blockmesh complained that the meshing would not match on different edges.
So I came up with the mixed edges theorie (neither parallel to x- or y- axes).
maybe it was a different prob.

I will check on that.

regards

I checked it out again and it seems to be a matter of connecting the meshes of different volumes rather than meshing the single volumes...
I am having a little trouble to imagine it (without a GUI) and to relate the curved edges of a cylinder to the cartesian-coordinate systems...
(so it turned out that the x-direction of the inner half of a cylinder seems to be parallel to the y-direction of the fraction of a cylinder surrounding the inner one, thats why I ended up not being able to mesh x- and y- direction independently)

So I got to apologize for confusing you about the "problem" ...!!
THX for your effort again!!!

Hi Heavy_user

As far as I can understand you , you need to take a look at the User Guide's
example of hole in a plate mesh. The blockMeshDict given for this case is for a quarter mesh. Take a look at it and let us know if that solves your problem.
Else please post here a rough hand sketch of the mesh topology you desire.
The spider type mesh you initially wanted is also possible with blockmeshdict. One just needs to collapse one of the edges of block and it does works. Please first provide a rough mesh topology you desire.

Thanks

Best Regards

hi Jaswi,

thx for the answer!!

I am working in 2D right now, so i avoided the prob.

I was told before that it was NOT possible to create a mesh I originally desired (spidermesh) with blockmesh, so I delayed the task... so thanks for the information with the collapsing corners.. I cant imagine right now how this makes the mesh I desired possible, but I will do more thinking and get back to you if I need further help...

regards
