grid analysis

hi guys,

i have a question about grids for open foam. i have created grids which are represented both in polymesh and in vtk format. the grids are properly constructed as the openfoam simulation works fine and the residuals converge.

the thing i want is to analyze my grids. to be more precisly, i want to gain information about the maximum/minimum/average angles, edge lengths, edge length ratio etc.

is there a simple way to solve this problem? i would prefer a solution which works also on windows (as paraview does), since i havent installed linux on my notebook so far.

thank you very much for your help!

best regards

Simply run the checkMesh utility - it will tell you all you need to know.

Enjoy,

Hrv

perhaps you want to try the liveusb Stick Distribution (based on Slax) which was created for Openfoam Workshop in Montreal
It is nice to use for small problems/learning and you just need a notebook capable booting from usb.

read more about OF on Slax here
