I have a patch that is dividing a mesh. I want the patch to go unnoticed to OpenFOAM in the solving process. I only want to use it for post processing.

What type of patch do I use to extract values from that location but not influence the flow?

(the patch is not symmetrical by the way, and type empty makes the mesh fail via the 2D-3D empty face check)

Thanks for your help!
