VAWT settings OF 1.5-dev

Hi all,
I'm trying to simulate an Unsteady 2D flow around a Vertical Axis Wind Turbine using OF 1.5-dev.
I'm following MixerGgi tutorial settings; I change the solver into turbDyMFoam in order to simulate a turbulent flow around the VAWT. I'm using realizableKE model and the standard setting of fvScheme and fvSolution located into cavity tutorial of turbFoam.
I set properly the interface (because the turbine rotate properly, and flow go through the interface) and I also set :
->The Courant number be below 0.3;
->As the PISO loop is used, 2 nCorrectors in system/fvSolution

as the following link suggested http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Si...vaned_diffuser

My target is to compare OF results with FLUENT results, but FLUENT Moment Coefficient is is three times bigger than OF !!!
Can anybody help me?????

Thanks!!!

Did you account for the thickness of your mesh?

Yes, I solved that problem some moths ago... the problem was the thikness, as you post.
However, thanks for your reply. ;)

Vawt

Hi enry, i hope that you are well. i know that you finished your project about VAWT 1 years ago but i have some question if possible
i simulated 2D VAWT with GGI interface and set an rpm for rotational part.but how to create rotation of the blades becouse of wind blow at the inlet domain?? on the other hand i have a speed of wind at the inlet and expect to rotate the blades?? would you guide me? tanx a lot

Have Fun

Hi Rasoul,
It's not possible to make the inlet conditions rotate the runner, you need to impose a rotational speed for the domain.

Lindner

tanx for your quick reply, As i undrestand for your post, i need to define rotational part for all domain! is it true??
another question of me is:
i wanna to rotate every three blades around its axis, how to define three rotational part for every one's?
