Hello everyone..well im a novice to openfoam and I am trying to find some code of wind flow over a building(square)...Ive read heaps of papers and know its a tried and tested problem so im just wondering if there somewhere i can view some code...any help is appreciated. toffee

Hello,

take a look at http://www.openfoam.com/features/sta...bleFlowSolvers
, I guess one of these Solvers should do the work for you. So coding is not really nescessary, but make use of what is there correctly.

But do you know how you create your Geometrie? I mean CAD -> Iges/Step http://www.salome-platform.org/ or (STL=> SnappyHexMesh/discretizer http://www.discretizer.org/ Engrid http://engits.eu/cms/index.php?id=4)
or Blender or Blockmesh. I mean all the Preprocessing stuff, what you gonna use?
Opensource or commercial stuff

maybe http://www.symscape.com is the right thing for you it is commercial but you get results very fast. But I do not use it, nor do I get money for mention it

Thanks Elvis

Im using openfoam...just started on the tutorials in the user guide...so im looking at blockMesh and working my through the maze.....well it is for me.. just starting out! Im not from an engineering background and was hoping for a program already written for a flow over a cube so I could pick it apart and learn backwards...so to speak. Cheers

Well blockmesh is not the best choice imho. I would only recommend it together with snappyhexmesh to build a "windtunnel" see the motorbike tutorial. Well i would take that as a starting point and raise the size of my tunnel for the house u want to simulate. maybe Blender should be used for STL file or try discretizer http://www.discretizer.org/node/9 it should be able to help you for what u want to do.

watch screencasts http://www.discretizer.org/node/14 or read the other material to get a feeling if is the right tool for u

if you do not need simulations with real physical insight.
Take a look at Blender http://www.blender.org it has some a cfd simulation tool based on lattice bolzmann =>http://wiki.blender.org/index.php/Do...Physics/Fluids
