Hello,
I'm a new user of the OpenFOAM, and I'm having some running/solving problems. When I choose a flow, except for the icofoam, the program doesn't even start the calculation. It reads the fields and the properties, but before the calculation, a list of errors and uninterpreted codes (-#0 FOAM::error::printstack(Foam::Ostream&) in "directories../../OpenFOAM1.4.1/lib/linuxGccDP0pt/libOpenFoam.so" - #1..... and goes on) shows up on the screen and the calculation is aborted, of course. But the thing is that I don't know what those massages means (I'm not a Linux expert either). If someone knows what I am talking about, I will appreciate some support. Thanks, Regards. Without listing the whole output, it'll be hard to guess what happened... although it isn't very uncommon for OpenFOAM to crash, due to misuse . A bit of search in this forum could've already provided you with an answer! Anyway, check the FAQ at openfoamwiki.net here. That link directs you directly to how-to-debug. Other than that, most crashes in OpenFOAM are related to bad boundary conditions, insufficient relaxation parameters, incorrect definition of units, etc etc... The latter happened to me, when a room was defined in millimeters and the solver ran in meters... so, incompressible fluid in a space filled with air and as big as a planet... Best regards, Bruno |

Yes, Bruno may be right. Such problems surface mostly by wrong boundary or initial conditions.
As you are new I would suggest you tell us in detail what simulation you are running. This includes the mesh (how did you create it? What does it look like?) and the boundary and initial conditions. Sometimes even a complete list of the error-output will be usefull. Get back to us.

BTW: Why are you using version 1.4.1 of OpenFOAM?
The current version is 1.6 ...

Thank you for your attention. I have the caelinux2008 installed in my computer. You're right, I should update it. However, I think my problems might not be related to the OpenFOAM version I'm using. The simulation that I'm trying to run is not that simple. I have to simulate a combustion with fluidized solid particles. First I'm trying to simulate with the twoPhaseEulerFoam code. The boundary conditions I have established already, although some of the initial conditions aren't so clear to me. When I try to run, the calculation crashes with the Foam fatal IO error: the keyword radialModel is undefined in dictionary "..../..../.... kineticTheoryProperties" ...... file .... from line 27 to 52. The problem is that it doesn't exist a "radialModel" to define. What is the radialModel? And what should I do with it? Another doubt I have is in the turbulence dictionary -> wallFunctions, the input "E" is the "y_plus"? Thank you again. Regards. |
