Dear Seniors,
I am working on my thesis and I am struck in my task of PPTC propeller open water case for the last three weeks. I am working on incompressible steady state solver simpleFoam with MRF properties. kindly post your sugessions and if feasible then share a rough folder of your OpenFoam case setup.
Thanks

Dear Bilal,

I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve, but I have a few comments:
  1. If you want to model a freesurface, pimpleDyMFoam is probably not the solver you need. You will probably need to look at interDyMFoam. You should however start with the simple case and build up to the more complicated solvers.
  2. If you are using MRF then you shouldn't be using pimpleDyMFoam. Rather you should use pimleFoam. While you can use MRF with pimpleDyMFoam, I don't know what the solution will look like. I think this would be a very atypical way to try and solve your problem. If you are unsure about MRF and AMI (which relates to the *DyMFOAM solvers) have a look at this link. Its slightly old and some terminology has changed, but explains the differences nicely.
  3. Have a look at the tutorials in OpenFoam. There already is a propeller case that you may be able to adapt to your problem. See this link: https://github.com/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM...Foam/propeller
  4. This tutorial is another example that can help you with rotating domains. It is meshed in a slightly different way to the previous tutorial.
  5. Try and show what you have attempted before asking for help. Also show what problems you are running into as this may result in people answering you sooner.
  6. You also may have better luck posting on the OpenFoam forum.

Best of luck,
Thomas
