# axis-symmetric case

Tried manually and using the utility makeAxialMesh to create axis-symmetric case. After start simpleFoam solver there are deduced data for 3 vector components. Time = 201 DILUPBiCG: Solving for Ux, Initial residual = 0.000588805, Final residual = 1.64506e-07, No Iterations 2 DILUPBiCG: Solving for Uy, Initial residual = 0.00149572, Final residual = 5.55529e-07, No Iterations 2 DILUPBiCG: Solving for Uz, Initial residual = 0.00907859, Final residual = 3.0994e-06, No Iterations 2 GAMG: Solving for p, Initial residual = 0.00423031, Final residual = 4.10437e-06, No Iterations 19 GAMG: Solving for p, Initial residual = 4.08028e-06, Final residual = 9.36491e-08, No Iterations 20 GAMG: Solving for p, Initial residual = 9.36482e-08, Final residual = 9.36482e-08, No Iterations 0 time step continuity errors : sum local = 7.21952e-10, global = -5.79737e-12, cumulative = -5.79737e-12 DILUPBiCG: Solving for omega, Initial residual = 0.000178982, Final residual = 3.51317e-06, No Iterations 1 DILUPBiCG: Solving for k, Initial residual = 0.00106769, Final residual = 2.67984e-06, No Iterations 2 ExecutionTime = 3.3 s ClockTime = 5 s As I understand the project should be quasi-two-dimensional. That is two components should be deduced only. Even, if display data of 3 components it is normal for an axis-symmetric of projects, there is one more problem - the component of velocity Uz for quasi-empty dimension most worse to converge.  May 17, 2010, 04:21 #3 Senior Member     Anton Kidess Join Date: May 2009 Location: Delft, Netherlands Posts: 1,151 Rep Power: 20 It is normal that all three components are still displayed, as the grid is still 3D (just with special cells and boundary conditions). And about Uz: Is it maybe possible that you mixed up X and Z direction during mesh generation (so that Y and Z span your computational plane and X is normal to the side of the wedge)? Did you look at your mesh in paraview to make sure everything is correct?
