I am running a case that consists of a part of a car inside a wind tunnel. The mesh has all the sizes in milimeters (for example the height of the tunel should be 3 but instead it's 3000). When I open this mesh in mm with paraView it shows a mesh that looks "blocky". It's quite near to looking as the mesh looks in gmsh, but it's facetated in blocks, is as if it where a big model made of Legos (yes, the blocks toy). anyway when I scale the model using transformPoints -scale '(0.001 0.001 0.001)' the mesh is no longer 'a little blocky'. ParaView shows a hex made out of 30 elements aprox. And the car part is absolutely undefined. there's no car, no mesh, only a hex with some divisions.

I tried scaling d*0.1 instead of 0.001, and the result is a really blocky mesh. you can guess where the car would be because it's made out of little blocks but it's nowhere near the original geometry.

Any ideas?

When OF 1.6 is installed in ubuntu 9.04 (spanish)- (and maybe other lanuages as well), paraFoam has trouble discerning between a '.' and a ',' so it may have problems like the one posted above.

The soluttion for that is to modify the script $HOME/OpenFOAM/OpenFOAM-1.6/bin/paraFoam

by adding at the top: export LC_ALL=C

that will fix it.

Hi!
Just stumbled upon this post. I had the same problem. export LC_ALL=C works very fine. Thanx!

HI i am working with a combustor model in paraview..the simulations have been done so far in a linux code based Uc3d JAPANESE software..now for post processing i translated the files to AVS.there was a file thats named
volume_msh.mgf. i can open it in MicroAvs software , but i cannot open it in paraview,

a paraivew needs the counter part files like the .inp .dat and .fld

do you know anything about the UC3D software??..i mean how to use that??and
this volume_msh.mgf file can be opened by this microAvs software, but i cannot open it thorugh PARAVIEW!...This is on my internship report !..somebody please help!..

thank you..
