Greetings Sudhir,

Here is a link with a list to various sources about OpenFOAM for Windows. That link itself is to a page that talks about cross-compiling OpenFOAM In Linux for Windows.

As for asking questions about OpenFOAM for Windows, you should have asked on this forum: OpenFOAM Windows Installation

Best regards and good luck!
Bruno

Are you afraid of Linux or why do you prefer Windows?

There are several Linux LiveDVD that include OpenFoam, you do not have to install Linux on your Computer to get your fingers on OpenFOAM.

These LiveImages work out of the box and are quite useful for learning OF/ (or handling smaller cases). A real installation is only nescessary for real problems
And some basic linux comands are explained in the tutorials from the OF workshop.
Maybe you make faster progress using a liveDVD LiveUSB-stick

Hi Sudhir,

You have at least two choices for LiveDVDs:

If it works, then it works!

Although I believe you can define in Virtualbox to read directly from the ISO file, so this way you wouldn't need PowerDVD to open the ISO.

Best regards,
Bruno

Greetings Iwarelogic and welcome to the forum,
You're setting up yourself to be catalogued as a spammer! Why? Because you've only made one post and already have added a link to your signature, which is a big no no
Now for your question:

I believe you must have installed the package from the project openfoam-mswin. That project was unofficial and was apparently only a proof-of-concept and looks to be abandoned. But uninstalling it should be as easy as removing the folder where it installed itself. Likewise for the start menu group that I think it also sets up.

Best regards,
Bruno

Hi Sudhir,

Well, running a x86 virtual machine in a x86_64 is faster than running a x86_64 virtual machine in a x86_64, at least by my experience.

I believe that GeckoCFD should be very good. I've not tried it yet, but Alberto knows his way around OpenSUSE and OpenFOAM, so I can only assume it's a very good package.

But check the latest post on GeckoCFD's thread:

You can install the normal OpenSUSE 11.3 and request Alberto to provide the links for the pre-built binaries.

Best regards,
Bruno

Well that's odd. Did you first test the ISO in a virtual machine? Because if it boots well in a virtual machine, then I can only think a few possibilities:
  • BIOS isn't configured to boot first from CD/DVD - you can try an official LiveCD version of OpenSUSE or Ubuntu or some other bootable CD/DVD you might have.
  • There was an error while recording to the DVD - this happened to me a few days ago, where half a byte was damaged... which is enough to damage most binary files
If neither one of these is the case, then I suggest you ask Alberto directly on his thread for GeckoCFD: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post278288

Best regards and good luck!
Bruno

hi Bruno,
you are 100% correct in your guess.the error occured because of dvd writing problem not a problem of iso file.first i checked the iso in vbox and it was running.then burned the dvd in other computer and it is running properly except some graphical errors. its good man..thanks for all your help..hopefully i will finish my detonation

I installed Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support) inside Windows XP using Wubi on three different computers. Installation of OF 1.7.0 and, later, 1.7.1 was just copy and paste from the OF home site installation instructions. Running speed is as in native Ubuntu system. Never had problems.

cheers

Installing with WUBI pretty much is a native installation, it just saves you the effort of partitioning.

Partioning the disk is a risky business.. And reverting is a Job for experts. Wuby install can be removed by the install/remove app of Win XP. I would recommend this path as the simplest one.

But I know I'm lazy..
