Following the success of the first four OpenFOAM workshops, the 5th OpenFOAM Workshop will take place June 21-24, 2010, at Chalmers University of Technology, Gothenburg, Sweden.

This event brings together developers and users of OpenFOAM, to promote collaborative activities, exchange information and share experiences. The intention is to organize this 5th OpenFOAM Workshop similar to the orgainization of the 4th workshop, where day 1 offered basic and advanced training, days 2-3 offered presentations, and day 4 offered group activities. Dear OpenFOAM community,

With this message I would like to inform/remind you that the 5th OpenFOAM workshop will take place at Chalmers, Gothenburg, Sweden, June 21-24, 2010.

The homepage, www.openfoamworkshop.org, has been updated with an abstract submission form, and the final date for abstract submission is set to March 15th. The scope of the workshop covers all aspects of OpenFOAM usage.

The workshop fees will be announced shortly, but the workshop is a non-profit event, so the fees will be kept as low as possible. Keep your eyes open for updates of the homepage, announcements in the forum, or send an e-mail to ofw5@openfoamworkshop.org to be included in the announcement e-mail list.

The organizers of the 4th (previous) workshop, in Montreal, Canada, 2009, has decided that all the money left from that activity will be spent by offering financial support for participation at the 5th workshop, for selected participants. Details on how to apply for such funding is now also available at the homepage. The deadline for this is also March 15th.

Preliminary reservations of hotel rooms have been made. Each hotel alternative has separate deadlines. Please make your registration directly with the hotel of your choice according to the instructions at the homepage, as soon as you have decided to attend the workshop. NOTE that the cheapest alternative has a deadline before the workshop registration deadline!!!

Some information about Sweden and Gothenburg at the time of the workshop:
* 19th of June the crown princess Victoria will get married in Stockholm: http://www.royalcourt.se/. Hotels in Stockholm at that time are already almost fully booked!
* 21st of June is the longest day of the year, and in the Gothenburg region you will experience only about four hours of darkness during night. In northerns Sweden you would experience midnight sun.
* 25th and 26th of June are Midsummer Eve and Midsummer Day in Sweden. This is a national holiday with lots of traditional celebrations. One of the largest celebrations in the Gothenburg region will take place at Nääs slott, http://www.naas.se

Dear OpenFOAM users,

The registration fees of the 5th OpenFOAM Workshop have finally been set,
yielding a reduction with respect to the previously announced preliminary
fees.

The deadline for registration is May 1st, through an on-line form that is
currently being prepared, with VISA or Mastercard payment. Please prepare
your payment if you intend to participate in the workshop. Note that we
are prepared for a large number of participants, but there is of course an
absolute maximum number of attendees, defined by the capacity of our
auditoriums. Early bird...

Please also consider making your hotel reservation as soon as possible.
There are in total 200 rooms preliminary reserved. You make your own
reservation with the hotels, according to the instructions at the workshop
homepage. Note that the cheapest hotel has a deadline before the
registration deadline, i.e. April 17. The other two alternatives have
deadlines May 20 and May 28, but the number of preliminary reserved rooms
is limited. Early bird...

We have received about 80 abstracts with various topics, so we are looking
forward to a very interesting workshop. The abstracts are under a review
process, but due to the number of submitted abstracts we are facing two
parallel sessions this year.

Hi,

The registration for the 5th OpenFOAM Workshop has re-opened. Now, however, WITHOUT the option of the dinner. The number of dinner participants at the time of the deadline fit nicely with the main option, and we had to take the decision when that deadline had passed.

NOTE that the registration may close at ANY TIME (without notice), so if you aim at coming to the workshop, please register AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Later may be too late!

The final registration deadline for the 5th OpenFOAM Workshop is June 4, since we need to do the final preparations. We might still close registration at any time, without notice, if we reach any of our limits. Please register a.s.a.p.

Keep your eyes open for upcoming workshops, and hopefully there will be one close to you, or you will have the possibility to travel to one of the workshops.

Last year it was in Canada, so we are not limited to Europe.

And, I have to report, to my best knowledge, the workshop website cannot be accessed from China Mainland. Reason unclear
