LES of periodic pipe centerline turbulent kinetic energy
I did an LES simulation of a periodic pipe (D=5mm) with channelOodles for the inlet condition of another LES simulation at Re=30,000. The averaged center-line turbulent kinetic energy is 1.5 which is much lower than the experimental value which is 3.85. The computed averaged turbulent kinetic energy is a spatial average in the periodic direction using the obtained LES velocity field. The sub-grid scale turbulent kinetic energy is of order of 0.15 which is negligible.
The length of pipe is 5D.
I was wondering if anyone knows where this anomaly comes from.
