Acoustic field in a centrifugal fan
I want to work on the noise prediction of a centrifugal fan with radios about 30cm.(745 rpm)
The question is because I should predict pressure fluctuations, should I solve the flow compressible or incompressible?!!!
And what solvers should I use?!!
sounds quite incompressible, so I would recommend icofoam. I only do compressible simulations with rhoPisoFoam...
Depends on what you want to simulate...
Maybe you should first define your goals before you select the solver...
even for acoustic field?!
Thank you for your answer. I know that the flow is incompressible and it should be solved with solvers MRFSimpleFoam(for steady) and turbDyMFoam(for unsteady). But my question is acoustic field is something different from flow field. I mean noise generation and propagation is something based on pressure fluctuaion and relatively density fluctuation. In this kind of problems, should I still solve the flow incompressible?!!
