I am having trouble decomposing my case, I have been using OF for the past year and for some reason it has decided (maybe down to an error on my part) to stop decomposing 'decomposePar'.
I have un-installed and reinstalled OF several times including restarting my computer but to no result. It is installed in opt/openfoam171 and have looked in /applications/utilities/parallelProcessing/decomposePar but I'm not sure what I'm looking for. Also where openFOAM is situated I cannot modify the files.

The error is as follows:
Time = 0
Create mesh

Calculating distribution of cells
Selecting decompositionMethod metis

--> FOAM FATAL ERROR:
You are trying to use metis but do not have the metisDecomp library loaded.
This message is from the dummy metisDecomp stub library instead.

Please install metis and make sure that libmetis.so is in your LD_LIBRARY_PATH.
The metisDecomp library can then be built in $FOAM_SRC/decompositionMethods/metisDecomp

From function labelList metisDecomp::decompose(const pointField&, const scalarField&)
in file dummyMetisDecomp.C at line 107.

FOAM exiting

Thanks

Hey David,

I think it might be that they are discontinuing the use of metis for scotch. (See User Guide - 256
