Approach/solver for hydrofoil optimization?

Hello,

I want to optimise a hydrofoil (T-foil design) operating between Re 350.000 and 1.500.000.

The focus will be on the T-connection design and the effect of winglets. Both should help to reduce drag in order to improve "take off" (cl/cd) and top speed (cd reduction).

What approach (to keep the number for required simulations low) and OpenFOAM solver would you recommend?

Klaus

Hi klausb,
For optimization I suggest you DAKOTA. It's a free optimization tool you can download from the web and you can interface with OpenFOAM very easily.
For your CFD simulation I think simpleFoam could be good.
