Hello,

how is an object (STL format) positioned in the domain?

It's a symmetical 3D case and the object should be positioned at 50% of the domain hight, 20% of the domain length and start at the symmetrie face.

Hi,

are you talking about position a STL object that will be used for SnappyHexMesh?
you can change either the position via your blockmesh(dict). you can visulize you blockmesh http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Co...ayBlockMesh.py

if you want to position your STL you write a short VTK programm (maybe paraview can help you as well) to rotate/translate your object.

Maybe discretizer might help you as well http://www.discretizer.org/

As an alternative, you could try to use admesh to translate, rotate and scale the STL file. I've used it for the same purpose, but it messed up my STL file. Now I am using python + VTK for that purpose.

Hi,

Usually I do the translation or rotation in enGrid software.
It is really nice because you can visualize the result immediately.
