size of domain

Hi everyone,

Is it possible that size of domain influence on stability of computation? (I mean: bigger domain -> better stability)

Hi Bengy,

It depends on your system. In particular, the mesh density in relation to the physics you want to resolve (e.g. eddy size) and possible wall effects as in e.g. multiphase flows. So, in answer to your question, possibly yes, depending on the type and scale of physics solved for.

Hi,

Yes, I know that mesh size and concentrate of this mesh are one of the most important things in whole simulation:) I just wanted know what about the domain (with steady numbers of mesh cells)

I also like to know the effect of mesh domain size while keeping the number of nodes constant? And is there a way to quantify the errors such as for mesh refinement study we use Richardson’s extrapolation with GCIs.
