Dear OpenFOAM Developers,

I have recently been involved in an MSc project which is involving the use of rhoSimple and rhoPisoFoam (this is still version 1.7.1) and I have noticed two issues which I would like to bring to your attention.

Firstly, rhoSimpleFoam seems to be compiled with RASModel.H only. Therefore there's no possibility to choose laminar or LESModel through constant/turbulenceProperties. Obviously there's an easy fix to that i.e. update slightly the sources and option file in main OF directory. I can confirm that the problem is still present in version 2.0.

Secondly, rhoSimpleFoam and indeed any other solver described as steady in OF seems to depend on time step which is a bit counter-intuitive. I was wondering why it is so and then I realised that turbulence models have ddt term and therefore any model using turbulence modelling is necessarily unsteady.

I would be obliged for any comments on these. I imagine that there might be a convincing rationale here, so I am uncertain whether I should report anything to your bug tracking system.
