Dear all

I am trying to simulate an air bubble system used for lake aeration with bubbleFoam. The domain is a simple rectangle with air being injected from the bottom of it. The inlet velocity is set to 0.1 and k is 10-6 and epsilon 10-8 (turbulence is on). After a few second the simulation comes to a steady state (velocity and alpha do not change with time), is it because of the k and epsilon values? Or is it because of something else? Also is bubbleFoam the appropriate solver for this problem? Thank you.

Jasmine

Hi Jasmine,
what do you mean by "velocity and alpha do not change with time" as it is a vertical domain it should always change due to the difference in density
Perhaps you have a problem with the BC's at the top of your domain.
Regarding your 2nd question you can check twoPhaseEulerFoam aswell, for an exact comparison between these two solvers you can look into the doxygen documentation.
Regards,
sabin

Hi Sabin

Thank you for your reply. Sorry I was not clear before, I meant that the velocity and alpha profile remain unchanged after a while (steady state) , since I am interested to see how the injection of bubbles causes movement in the water I think this solution is not really helpful. I hope I explained it clearly now.
Thank you.
