rhoPisoFoam & rhoPimpleFoam
Hi everyone!
I've noticed that in the last release of OpenFoam, the 2.0, the rhoPisoFoam is no more. Why is that? Can be replaced conveniently with the rhoPimpleFoam solver? What's the difference? Thanks everyone |
PIMPLE/PISO rhoFoam
Dear popezmark
PISO does only one outer calculation step by calculating U and then correcting p in several corrector steps. In OF 2.0 the rhoFoam solver uses the PIMPLE algorithm which has better stability when using larger time steps. PIMPLE performs a PISO corrector loop which is repeated several times, starting with the results of the previous corrector step. Thus you are allowed to under relax the solver. The solver is faster and more stabel. Have a look here: On the pimpleFoam solution algorithm But you should have a closer look at the threads in this forum. I posted the same answer a few weeks ago. Just search for PIMPLE and you will find the answer without asking. Regards Fabian |
Thank you very much for your reply and kindness, Fabian :)
I will read the informations you posted, and I'll have a closer look next time ;) Marco |
Hi,
I am currently using OF 1.7.1 and I was wondering if the rhoPimpleFoam works well with this version? Thanks, Pierre. |
Sorry for the question I found my answer in other post.
Thanks. |
