Meshing a sphere with snappyHexMesh

I have been doing some simulations using a spherical chamber which I created with snappyHexMesh. The meshing (so I thought) was good, except I have recently switched to using reactingFoam, and now the mesh is causing me to have JANAF errors. I have found that the cells causing the problem are on the 'corners' of the sphere. The way I created the mesh was by originally meshing a cube that contained my sphere, using blockMesh. I then used snappyHexMesh to mesh the sphere from the background cube mesh. Where the faces of the cube originally were, the mesh of the sphere is very good, but where the corners of the cube originally were, the mesh of the sphere becomes somewhat more strange, and it is at these locations the reactingFoam is running in to problems.

Does anyone know any way to make a better sphere mesh using snappyHexMesh? One that will not bring about JANAF errors?

Does anyone know how to do this?

Greetings Cyberholmes,

I can only remember of two places where you can check for more clues about this:
  • The tutorial case "mesh/snappyHexMesh/iglooWithFridges", where the igloo is pretty much a sphere cut in half.
  • Then there is this thread: http://www.cfd-online.com/Forums/ope...tml#post316332
I only know about this one because someone commented on it the other day and I noticed it.
Good luck!
Bruno
