does anyone have a reference for the two turbulence models Lien non-linear cubic low Re k-eps and Lien-Leschziner low Re k-eps from OpenFOAM (LienCubicKELowRe and LienLeschzinerLowRe ) I found one reference: F.S. Lien, W.L. Chen, and M.A. Leschziner. “Low-Reynolds-Number Eddy-Viscosity Modelling Based on Non-Linear Stress-Strain/Vorticity Relations”. Proc. 3rd Symposium on Engineering Turbulence Modelling and Measurements, 27-29, May, 1996, Crete, Greece. Unfortunately, I don't have access to those Proceedings, and I can't find an abstract in order to verify if this is actually the paper describing the turbulence model that is needed, therefore I don't want to order it just yet. |

I'am facing the same problem, were you able to solve it? PS: While performing simulation on a channel flow with this model, the anisotropy in my stresses are strange, I therefore would like to verify the implementation. Cheers, Thierry |

Hej,
I was able to get my hands on a copy of the paper. It is available from the TIB in Hannover (http://www.tib.uni-hannover.de/en.html). You should read it with caution though, since there is a mistake in the paper, namely the coefficients C1..5 are wrong, as can be seen by looking at the paper "Development and Application of a cubic eddy viscosity model of turbulence" by Craft, Launder and Suga, 1996, from Int. J. of Heat and Fluid Flow. Another paper that is useful in understanding the paper by Lien et al. is "A more general effective-viscosity hypothesis" by Pope, 1975. I tried verifying the model myself, unfortunately I didn't get too far. The implementation is rather lengthy and complicated due to the non-linear nature of the problem and the usage of the symmetric tensor class in the implementation in OpenFOAM. The parts I have been able to verify have been correct. |

I am trying to use the LienCubic model implemented in OpenFoam. I don't have the paper, though I am checking it for low/high reynolds channel flows, but again since I don't have the paper I cannot make any comparisons. I have tried a couple of options you have mentioned to obtain the paper but it didn't work for me. Therefore, I would like to ask if you have any electronic copy of the paper and if could you send it to me: ioannis.asproulias@postgrad.manchester.ac.uk , is there any experience on validating the model.
