open channel flow with open foam

I would like some assistance with creating an open foam open channel model.
Can anyone point me to examples.

Its just a very simple model that i need to start with and I have no experience with open foam.

Perhaps there is a easier program to use?

regards and thanks

I would suggest starting with the dam break tutorial. Once you understand that I would change the boundary conditions to create an inlet and outlet. It will be 2D at this point, then you can work toward making it 3D.

Thank you for your suggestion.
Will this model handle a hydraulic jump by a feature on the floor of the channel?
in 3d?

Yes it will. I have been using it to model spillways and energy dissipation structures, and it seems to capture the hydraulic jumps in the stilling basins well. I think if you Google "spillway openfoam" you will find a few youtube videos showing a hydraulic jump...they are not mine, but I recall seeing them.

open channel flow simulation

ok, thanks that sounds good.
have you had anything to do with FANS?
(Finite-Analytic Navier-Stokes (FANS))
if so which do you think is the easier and more effective to use?
