Hello,

let's say that someone needs to simulate a bain-marie like case, transiently, in the two dimensions.

For example boil water that's in a pot, which pot is dipped in heating water.

My guess is with something like multiphaseEulerFoam, with the pot modeled as a baffle - wall.

My problem mainly is on how to create that baffle (which i need to be a thermal baffle, i guess) and - or in which software can implement that, is blockMesh and setSet enough for that?

Cheers to all

Hi,

Are you doing conjugate heat or using a temperature/flux boundary condition? This is critical, and it changes everything.

Think what you know about the dish being cooked: if you can give either a temperature or a heat flux at the pot, you are fine in one phase. Otherwise you have to model the cooking, which consumes energy.

For the flow, I assume 2-phase free surface with evaporation, so that in the gas phase you have a mixture of air and water vapour.

Quite challenging really...

hello professor,

the problem i described above was a simplification of the problem i 'm facing, so that to make things easier in the forum.
I need two simulate a bain marie indeed, but of a pot with water dipped in hot air fluidized sand bed (see twoPhaseEulerFoam/RAS/fluidizedBed). So only for that in my case i have 3 phases, air , sand, water (and maybe the pot).

Also i don't need to simulate the boiling of the water.
All i need to determine is:
What must be the temperature of the hot air at the inlet in the bottom of the fluidized bed, so that the water in the pot will rise to 100 degree Celsius in 10 minutes???

So at my problem, the heat flux is also transient.
With the twoPhaseEulerFoam solver i can simulate the fluidized sand bed and it's heat transfer behavior successfully.
But then i 'm trying to find a way to combine this somehow with the pot and water.

I was thinking of chtMultiRegionFoam but i think i can't simulate the sand-air interaction.
Now i 'm trying with createBaffles and multiphaseEulerFoam (like in image)

I am lost and i need an ensured guidance in a direction.

Thank in advance!!!
