Magnetic particles in Fluid

Hi,
I am working with openFoam for a few weeks and I got familiar with the basics. As a part of my project, I need to simulate magnetic particle movement under the effect of external magnetic field. I would appreciate if someone guide me on the followings:

1. which solvers are suitable for modeling of particles motion in fluid?

2. what are the magnetic Solvers in openFoam? which one is more suitable to my problem?

3. Can solvers such as magneticFoam be coupled with fluid and particle solvers?

4. Is there any tutorial or guide for coupling of solvers in general?

I'm not very familiar with either one of your questions, but in case no one else answers you, here are a few things I know of that might help you:

This does not use particles per-say, but it's related: http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/MhdFoam
For modifying solvers, here are two big hints - compare these two wiki pages:
- http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/Ho...ure_to_icoFoam
- http://openfoamwiki.net/index.php/ScalarTransportFoam
It's basically showing that one can add scalar transport to icoFoam, although some more tweaking might be necessary.
For coupling solvers, the one I have almost 100% confidence that it's a coupled solver is conjugateHeatFoam:
- Integrated conjugate heat transfer solver in OpenFOAM
- It's part of the variant 1.6-ext: http://openfoam-extend.git.sourcefor...olvers/coupled
- There you can also find another one that might be useful:
  blockCoupledScalarTransportFoam
Check the release history and features that are accessible from here: http://www.openfoam.org/download/history.php
That is a good way (albeit slow) to find more about the solvers available on each version of OpenFOAM.
edit: forgot to mention the FSI solvers on 1.6-ext as well: Solver for FSI strongly coupled

There are a few particle solvers in OpenFOAM, but you'll have to look into the tutorials folder to figure out which might be useful to you.
