Hi,
I am installing OpenFOAM v2.1.0 to my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS, following the instruction on the official website. When I am doing Step1:

"1. In a terminal window, add OpenFOAM to the list of repository locations for apt to search, by copying and pasting the following in a terminal prompt (Applications -> Accessories -> Terminal)"

I just type:

VERS=`lsb_release -cs`
sudo sh -c "echo deb http://www.openfoam.org/download/ubuntu $VERS main > /etc/apt/sources.list.d/openfoam.list"

It replies:

[sudo] password for nansi: (nansi is my username of my Ubunto OS)

I tried many times but I was not able to type my password onto it. No matter what I typed, it didn't display, could anybody tell me why? And, by the way, what is the password? Is it the password of my Ubunto OS or the so called "super user password" in the instruction on the official website?

Thanks a lot for any help!

Hello Hahajiushixing ,

In Linux the password is not echoed so you just type you password and hit enter. You do not see your password.

All the best
